UNI Global Union Joins Campaign
17. September 2025UNI Global Union Joins Campaign to Ban Trade with Illegal Israeli Settlements
UNI Global Union has joined over 80 civil society organisations in launching the international campaign Stop Trade with Settlements, calling on governments and companies to end all trade with illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The campaign is backed by a detailed report, Trading with Illegal Settlements, which documents how international trade enables and sustains land confiscation, forced displacement and exploitation of Palestinian workers. UNI joins the call to end business complicity in Israel’s ongoing occupation and violations of international law.
“Global corporations are profiting from a system that robs Palestinians of their rights and futures,” said Christy Hoffman, General Secretary of UNI. “Governments must ban trade with settlements, as they have in other cases of illegal occupation.”
UNI has repeatedly condemned Israel’s illegal settlement expansion. Resolutions passed at UNI World Congresses call for divestment from companies supporting settlement infrastructure and for governments to uphold international law.
UNI stands in full solidarity with Palestinian workers and calls on governments and businesses to take immediate steps to end trade with illegal settlements and support a just and lasting peace.
