UNI Europa signs first of a kind guidelines

UNI Europa, the European services workers federation, along with social partners and employers in telecommunications, finance, and gaming, recently signed groundbreaking guidelines in Paris, France, aimed at eliminating workplace violence and harassment.

This marks the first instance of a trade union federation collaborating with employers across various sectors on such comprehensive guidelines. The initiative, responding to a surge in violence during the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly affecting women, addresses issues like domestic violence, third-party violence, and psychosocial risks of telework.

The guidelines emphasize joint condemnation of workplace violence and harassment and come as the EU considers a directive to combat violence against women, with a focus on the role of trade unions and social dialogue. The guidelines conclude a two-year project co-funded by the European Commission.
